Our goal is simple: Build Resilient Businesses Through Financial Empowerment

Because when family-owned businesses can make more informed decisions about their dollars, they grow with more confidence + finally make time for the things that matter.

Just like a 4-leaf clover, Clover Accounting is rare

We’re more than just an accounting firm. We’re the sidekick for family-owned hospitality and retail businesses. We’re an all-women team rooted in empowerment, empathy, and human connections. And we’re championing the next generation of women to be financially literate and self-assured.

And, for us, that starts with supporting local, community-driven restaurant & retail business owners in regaining control of their financial confidence and business growth through personalized, forward-thinking solutions.

We simplify your operations, cut out the noise, and boost your bottom line so you can focus on what matters:

  • Running a business you love

  • Doing the things you love

  • Spending time with the people you love

And building a better Ottawa.

We empower through knowledge for our clients; empower through advocacy for our community; and empower through leadership for our industry.

So, Why a Clover?

The intention with which we lead is ingrained in every part of our business, starting with our logo.

The clover representing us is 3D – with dimensions, various sides, faces, and edges. Because much like creative problem-solving and accounting, there can be many contributing factors that make up an analysis. It's not as one-dimensional or black + white as one may think. Looking at it from a different angle can often yield a different solution. This is how we approach our work.

The “V” symbolizes the way we, as a team, will always go above and beyond for our clients to help them increase efficiency, profitability, and in turn, growth.

The Values That Drive Us

A Note From The Founder, Denise Hutchinson

Clover Accounting was born out of a realization that financial literacy, as a woman especially, is a special kind of superpower.

The personal independence it offers, the confidence it builds, and the freedom it allows have the power to make almost anyone feel superhuman. That revelation (along with my nerdy obsession with math & my love for supporting local businesses) was the main motivation behind the foundation of Clover Accounting.

To empower the small businesses of my city to gain their financial superpowers. More specifically, to help the family-owned restaurants and retail spaces of Ottawa to find their super strength.

Why?

Because, after 15 years as the accountant and bookkeeper for businesses like the Lieutenant’s Pump, I know all (and I mean all) the ins and outs of what makes a thriving restaurant tick. And after years of advising retail spaces like Stacey Martin Lifestyle, I understand the nuances of growing a retail business.

Payroll, business cycles, inventory budgets, I’ve seen and done it all. And what’s stood out amongst it all is the power thriving local businesses can have on a community.

So for me, building a better world starts with supporting those at the heart of our communities – the small business owners. My goal: To get them back to doing what they do best. Not worrying about spreadsheets or tax dates but building a business they love and creating a better Ottawa in the process.

  • Chartered Professional Accountant

With over 16 years of experience as a CGA and CPA, harnessing her expertise in roles with the Office of the Auditor General and within a fast-moving firm, Wendy has mastered not only the big but also the micro picture of bookkeeping in a business.

She is an expert in helping clients manage the day-to-day of their finances and integrating their online sales platforms (Shopify, Amazon) with their accounting software so that sales & taxes are tracked seamlessly and accurately.

When she isn’t supporting small business owners in knowing their numbers, you’ll probably catch her cheering enthusiastically from the stands of an Ottawa arena as one of her 4 boys scores the hat trick. Or, she might be acting out her duties as the league's treasurer.

  • Senior Bookkeeper

With more than 7 years of experience in both Auditing & Accounting at two well-known auditing institutes, as well as a Master’s in Auditing, a bachelor's degree in accounting, and a graduate certificate in Accounting and Finance, it is prudent to say Masoumeh is passionate about what she does.

She is an expert in preparing and analyzing Financial Statements based on GAAP (IFRS, ASPE). She has conducted financial statement audits for establishments of all types and sizes. From government enterprises to manufacturing & commercial construction to private companies…and now your small business.

When she’s not “crunching the numbers,” you’ll find her skating on the canal or singing her favourite tune as she accompanies herself on piano.
